Red Dot Storage Announces Chuck James as New President & CEO

Seth Bent, Founder of Red Dot, transitions to new role as Chief Strategy Officer

Louisville, CO – Red Dot Storage announced the appointment of Chuck James as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2019. James joined Red Dot in April 2017 as the Chief Operating Officer and quickly become an invaluable asset to the company. He was promoted to President and COO in August 2018.

"In partnership with our board, this succession plan kicked-off six months ago and I could not be more pleased to announce its completion. Chuck has been integral in refining Red Dot’s operating platform and leading our nationally recognized company culture,” said Seth Bent, Founder & CSO, “CEO succession is a big step for any company, however, this process will be seamless for our investors, employees, and customers, as Chuck is already intimately involved in every aspect of the business."

As CEO, James will lead the company with a specific concentration on unveiling value and streamlining workflow. Red Dot’s focus will remain steadfast and committed to their predefined company values.

“To have the confidence of a Founder as gifted at strategy and vision as Seth is humbling. I am honored to lead Red Dot through this next exciting chapter,” said James, “Seth’s vision has come to fruition and it is our goal as a team to continue our success of using this platform to consolidate the industry and beyond.”

Seth Bent, Founder, is transitioning from Chief Executive Officer to his new role as Chief Strategy Officer. In this role, Bent will continue to oversee acquisitions and strategy for Red Dot Storage. In 2013, Bent founded Sparkplug Capital dba Red Dot Storage, since then, Bent has grown the company to employ over 80 in-house staff, while expanding to own and operate 144 properties throughout 16 states.

"I believe the strategy of aggregating assets across fragmented markets and maximizing value through the use of automation technology is much bigger than where we are today. By stepping back from the day to day operations at Red Dot, I intend to expand the platform into new vertical and logical ancillary opportunities,” said Bent.




Red Dot Storage Expands to 16th State

Portfolio reaches 138 with first acquisition in the LaGrange, GA market

February 4, 2019

Red Dot Storage announced that it has acquired its 138t​ h property, located at 1306 Hogansville Rd, LaGrange, GA. This acquisition is Red Dot Storage’s first in Georgia, which will continue to be an expansion market for the company. Red Dot Storage now owns and operates properties throughout 16 states, comprising ove​r 5.3 m​illion net rentable square feet.

“Georgia is an ideal market for Red Dot and this property serves as the perfect entry point. We could not be more excited to serve all our new customers in LaGrange and look forward building the Red Dot brand across the state,” said Seth Bent, Founder and CEO at Red Dot Storage.

The LaGrange location offers Red Dot customers 243 units ​totaling over 33,000 square feet of storage space, including climate-controlled units. The property will be upgraded to feature standard amenities of a typical Red Dot Storage property, including but not limited to, enhanced security features, 24-hour automated rental center, and access-controlled systems.




Red Dot Storage Receives Best Company Culture Award and Best Companies for Women Award

Red Dot Storage was recently ranked on two Best Company Lists from Comparably — Best Company Culture and Best Companies for Women. Comparably Awards are given based on sentiment ratings provided anonymously by employees. Employees are asked a number of questions based on topics including compensation, leadership, professional development, work-life balance, and perks and benefits.

Red Dot Expands into 15th State and Exceeds 5 Million Net Rentable Square Feet

Red Dot Storage is pleased to announce the acquisition of four storage facilities, including three properties in KS and one in Monroe, LA. This expansion into the Kansas market now gives Red Dot Storage presence across 15 states with a total of 127 properties and over five million net rentable square feet.

These recent acquisitions include Affordable Safe Storage in Monroe, LA, A-B Mini Storage in Wichita, KS, All Storage of Maize in Maize, KS, and All Storage of Park City in Park City, KS.

Red Dot Storage will be making a variety of enhancements to these facilities including an upgraded access control system, asphalt repairs, 24-hour rental center, LED lighting, and enhanced video surveillance.




Red Dot Storage Announces Disaster Relief Storage

October 10, 2018

Red Dot Storage is pleased to announce the addition of disaster relief storage. As part of our disaster relief efforts, Red Dot Storage will offer 30 days of rent-free storage to qualifying individuals in the unfortunate event of a natural disaster on an as-available basis. Red Dot Storage hopes that these efforts will allow individuals affected by natural disasters a helping hand in their time of need.

Disaster relief storage will be a part of our Storage with Heart program that allows us to support and engage with our communities. Red Dot Storage will also continue to partner with local charitable organizations in the effort to support our customers and communities in times of need. Our hearts go out to those affected by these tragedies.

Red Dot Storage was recently awarded a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by the Denver Post. This list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC. Red Dot Storage Enters Tennessee Storage Market

October 28, 2015

Boulder, CO. — Colorado-based Red Dot Storage announced today that it has completed acquisitions of six storage facilities in the Tennessee market. The new locations include Clarksville (2), Springfield (2), Greenbrier (1), and Old Hickory (1), totaling 2000 units and 221,000 square feet of storage for customers in The Volunteer State.

Red Dot Storage will be upgrading each property with a variety of enhanced security and access control features as well as a 24-hour automated rental center, LED lighting, and access controlled gate systems.

The new Tennessee acquisitions bring the total number of Red Dot Storage properties to 35, with additional locations in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Red Dot Storage Expands to Southern Illinois

Portfolio Expands to 26 with Acquisition of Three St. Louis-area Properties

Boulder, CO. — Colorado-based Red Dot Storage announced today that it has completed the acquisition of three facilities in the St. Louis area. The new facilities, located in Highland, IL, Collinsville, IL, and Troy, IL, offer area residents more than 116,000 square feet of storage space, including 928 storage units. Red Dot Storage will be upgrading the property with a variety of enhanced security and access control features as well as a 24-hour automated rental center and access controlled gate systems.

The new acquisitions brings the total number of Red Dot Storage properties in Illinois and Wisconsin to 26.

Boulder, CO. — Colorado-based Red Dot Storage announced today that is has completed the acquisition of two Stor Trek storage properties location in Richton Park and Monee, Illinois. The two new facilities contain an aggregate of approximately 270 total units. The company will be upgrading each of the properties with a variety of enhanced security and access control features as well as a 24-hour automated rental center, new pavement and upgraded lighting.

The Stor Trek acquisitions bring the total number of Red Dot Storage properties in Illinois and Wisconsin to 22.

Boulder, CO. — Colorado-based Red Dot Storage announced today that is has completed the acquisition of the DeKalb County Self Storage portfolio with locations in DeKalb, Sycamore, Cortland, and Malta. The acquired portfolio of five facilities contains an aggregate of 250,000 rentable square feet and approximately 1600 total units. The company will be upgrading each of the properties with a variety of enhanced security and access control features as well as a 24-hour automated rental center.

Red Dot Storage now owns a total of 20 properties in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The new properties, located in Frankfort and New Lenox, are Red Dot Storage’s eleventh and twelfth properties in Illinois; Red Dot Storage also owns and operates two storage properties in Wisconsin.
